Check if "Aspect" is set to "As previous" under
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Playlist
(If you try with movies played before maybe uncheck "Remember movie settings") 
With "Use 'old' style playlist" selected (under Preferences > Playlist) you can (in the playlist) verify (and manage) settings for each individual movie shown in the playlist by simply selecting them.
