Can BSPlayer Pro play FLV Files? - Y E S -
 

I've seen this topic in the forum, but it has left me with a lot of doubts, besides being a bit outdated, the last post was in March 2007.

I'm asking now again just in case there is an FLV codec recently come out or some new add on out there that will permit BSPlayer to play the FLV files.

Appreciate your advice.

FFDSHOW can decode the required VP and H.263 formats found in Flash Video. I don't know about a working splitter though.

The K-Lite Codec Pack contains a splitter for FLV files.

BS.Player supports playback of FLV files
 

1) First you will need FLV splitter:

(register splitter manually by typing "regsvr32 <filename>" in cmd)
or

(installer included - just install)

2) Then you need FLV decoder (ffdshow newer versions contain one).

Make sure you have checked the box in front of FLV1 in ffdshow options.

You could have fooled me, but I was under the impression that (together with some other users like Farlight and Digiface) you were also a ffdshow-supporter, but ...?

The guliverkli sourceforge website contains an old version of the FLV splitter. That one doesn't support all FLV files.

Who has continued the develpment of this module? Where can the newer version be obtained?

Well, I installed codecs as per Ico-man's suggestion/links above and everything works fine, no problems.

Thanks guys. I think the problem is that the website is promoting veoh player so it does some stupid check and won't let any other player play it pass 5 minutes.

I use FFDShow + MPC combo for FLV files. (MPC got build-in FLV splitter)

So, let's see what's left of my english skills...

I also installed the FLV Splitter and ffdshow and it works fine with most players. But BS Player refuses to use ffdshow. In the options menu ffdshow is greyed out and it doesn't load the filter if I open a flash file. There's no restriction set for the use of ffdshow.

I thought it wouldn't work with BS Player in general, but here are several users who don't seem to have any problem with BS Player and flash.

Did you already try "Filter management"?
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Filter management
Further: preferably access filters/codecs directly.
With a file loaded you can see what filter/codec BS.Player actually uses for playback:
(rightclick >) Options > Filters > Advanced (also open the [+]-es)
(You can also adjust filter's/codec's settings there.)
What is shown with an flv-file loaded?

Yes, I tried to use the filter management and put ffdshow and FLV Splitter on the Whitelist and the Filter Priority list. Didn't change anything.

When I start playback BSPlayer only loads the MP3-Decoder (Fraunhofer), so there's no video at all only audio, playing about 5x too fast.

libavcodec is set for all flash files in ffdshow - how else should it work with other players? ;)

Make sure you have a proper FLV splitter installed:

Other sites will probably have old (and buggy) versions.

You should make sure that the Flash files are not detected as MPEG audio. While installing ffdshow you should always select only the required formats, especially pay attention that MP1 and MP2 is disabled.

This entry enables MPEG Layer II in Ogm and Matroska, but you have to make the choice which is more needed – FlashVideo or these cases.

I just installed FLV splitter and started to use BSPlayer for .flv files instead of MPC. I also added FLV as BSPlayer file type, so FLV files opens with BSPlayer by default. Works fine.

It is absolutely not needed to disable MP1/MP2 in ffdshow. That has nothing to do with playback of Flash videos.

Yeah, i got them enabled and FLV videos works fine.

1. 2. Someone recently asked me to rip some crap FLVs. Since I needed MP2, I had enabled its decoding. Flash splitted wasn't used as ffdshow took priority and treated the file as MPEG audio.

3. I am certain there were one other report about FLV playing as Mp3 somewhere.

Well, I don't use ffdshow for MPEG anyway.

Concerning what you said about MP3, I thought it would be correct if an mp3 codec loads, as flash usually contains MP3 audio, doesn't it?

Just did some more testing with more flv files and found out that about half of them play correctly with BS Player + ffdshow. hm...
