I think he refers to the accented characters ?äö (A with ° [ring] and ¨ [dieresis] and O with ¨ [dieresis]), not the word aao But I don't know if he wants those chars available for the player translation or for the filenames..

In our cuntry they are called "diacritice". In subtitles you can have support by selecting the apropiate script in font types. For anything else, you must have this enabled in your windows instalation. So be sure you have selected in "control panel" -> "regional settings" support for your language, including non-unicode programs under advanced TAB.

Since 2.22.952 BS.player supports unicode subtitles, so all kind of characters (including ?ÄÖÜ ... and sort of ... most of them commonly known as "german umlauts"). Of course ... the codepage of the subtilte have to be correct :) There is also no problem with the player translation and file names. There are just problems with japanese/chinese characters in filenames and translation (only on a non-japanese/chinese OS).

There was never aproblem to display just German umlauts or just "š", "ž", "č". All of those characters could not be used simultaneously. Although my version 1.36 does not recognize Unicode (UTF-16) SRTs, it does fine with subs muxed in Matroska. I just tested a few lines containing mutually exclusive Baltic and Cyrillic characters. Despite of what some at this board might say Matroska != HiDefinition. If your comp is fast enough you can use this format for your collection. It supports practically unlimited number of tracks in any free a/v/sub format and can store descriptions of each track. |

The emoticons need to be of the same style. There was a board called snesorama.us where the administrator had installed all sorts of diffrent smileys, with multiple ones reflected the same emotion. Looked cheap. Maybe steal Invision Power Board ones?
