[FIXED IN 2.33] Can BSPlayer v2.31 play online movies? (FLV)

I try some URL address but BSplayer v2.31 doesn't work. URL address is valid, beccuse MPC or WMPlayer can work. After downloading the movie to the harddisk, BSPlayer can play the file. I have no this kind of problem before. So, I reinstall old version 2.28 and BSplayer can play those address!

Any idea about this? My system is Windows XP SP2.

Can you help us by providing such a link ? Thank you.

Maybe first try with BS.Player 2.32.975

After updated v2.32, it seems better. v2.31 cannot play a mms stream (.wmv content) but v2.32 & v2.28 work fine. But, for the most common stream with .flv content, v2.32 & v2.31 play audio only? I'm sure FLVsplitter installed properly, because v2.28 works and v2.32 &2.31 also can play .flv files which stored on my hard disk.

Oh! I forget to paste a link for testing. Please see below:

http://121.11.159.41/51hot.tudou.com...e=22274583.flv

bsplayer v2.31 or v2.32 play audio only, but v2.28 play fine.

Yeap, 2.32 it's not playing video, just audio part. MPC Home cinema seems to handle better the link, KMPlayer works fine, Mplayer2 and MPC = same as BSplayer, VLC plays OK (after you find the menu to play a link - bad romanian translation ;) )

BS.Player streaming flv playback

BS.Player does play the .flv file from the URL you provided, but you have to have a proper flv filter installed. If you use BS.Players Codec manager and install FFDshow, this URL will be displayed properly. (Although BS.Player still has to download the entire file before it starts playback.)

It can't download the file, as is live streaming.

BS.Player FLV streaming

When i clicked on the link, Firefox downloaded it (it took some time) and then started playing it with BS.Player... BS.Player support for true FLV streaming is not supported and was not supported in 2.28 either. Maybe in 2.33 ;)
Currently the streaming filetypes that are supported in BS.Player are: mp3, ogg and wmv.

Can you give us a sample of streaming wmv, that does not work for you?

So strange! I do open the URL link in BSPlayer v2.28 and it play fine. That is why i post this thread for help.

Probably firefox did some buffering and after that start playing the file. IE7 (I am using) don't do like that, just refuses to open the file via BSPlayer. But if you copy / paste the URL normally it should open it.

File plays perfectly after download (firefox here, it downloaded the file and then bsplayer v2.32 started the video playback)

Gabest FLV splitter v1.0.0.4
Elecard Audio Decoder v1.5.340.60302 (trial)
ffdshow Video Decoder v1.0.5.2079

Tried with v2.28, same result

It's not possible to play that file in real time, it needs to be downloaded first (as stated by Ico-man)
It can be played instantaneously only the second time you open that URL just because it's still in the TEMP internet dir, if you clear your browser cache you have to wait again the file to be downloaded in order to play it with BSplayer ;)

adicoto 16th October 2008 10:34 PM

VLC and KMP play the file realtime. No need to download the file, just a small buffering before playing.

PS: I don't use ffdshow

markweng 17th October 2008 12:53 AM

BSPlayer v2.28 did play realtime on my machine. Again, I try a bigger file (about 20MB, same .flv content) and clear temp internet dir befor playing. Once open the URL in BSplayer, it begin to play within 2s and the controls panel also shows a progress "Buffering...(xx%)". When the buffer charged to 30%, i close BSPlayer and look into the temp internet dir. There is a new flv file of 6MB size.

However, opening the URL in v2.32 is far different. It seems to treat the stream as a music and play audio only. In fact, i hear nothing and program also hang up soon.

BS.Player streaming playback

It seems markweng was right (and I was wrong  ), 2.28 did playback properly flv streaming videos and 2.32 does not.

Bug is already fixed and will be included in 2.33.

Hooray !!!
