The colour controls have no effect

The grpahics card is the onboard S3 Pro Savage for Compaq. I have tried in Overlay mode and in RGB..no effect..colour comntrols still ineffective.

HELP... I cannot get the colour controls to affect the picture brightness or contrast, I have tried on the latest version and an older version downloaded from Cnet...I did have an earlier version...
