There have been some problems with latest versions since beta downloads have been made available to public.
Plus, latest vesrion v2.27.959 fixed this problem, but bundled the wrong adware...

Unfortunately I have no time to do more tests until Tuesday, and probably BSP team is in weekend break, so until Monday they will not answer.. :(

But if you un-check the "Check for new version of BS.Player at program startup"?
Maybe disconnect from internet before doing this

As an alternative delete the following line from BSplayer.xml...
