Well the original ones have out-of-sync problems...

Well the original ones have out-of-sync problems (well, only with one file, but that's one file too many).
The old version of ffdshow I had wasn't able to play all xvid files without major problems,...

Yet another update: It's working fine now that...

Yet another update:
It's working fine now that I updated ffdshow and use it to decode both MP3 (libmad) and XVID (XviD 1).
But I still have no idea why Bsplayer refused to play the file properly...

I changed to the same xvid binaries as you seem to be using (well, according to the screenshot). No effect.

The delay keeps growing the longer the file plays.

My XviD-decoder settings look a little different, here's a screenshot (as an attachment).

I have tried checking the compatibily renderer box (whatever that is), but it has no effect...
