Lots of peoples have different codecs strategies, but most of them (us) agree that codec packs, or any unnecessary codecs are usually not...

That's not a good test, video lan use it's own codecs AFAIK.
Try windows media player, or better:

(Polish player, that, for sure, uses only default...
