BSPlayer's build? Most recent now (19-02-2005) is build 814.
from skin ? to skin ...
OS? (Adequate user-rights?)
Any memory-resident program?
Any strange behaviour or view if you browse to skin-files in BSPlayer's subfolder "Skins"?
If you're using BSPlayer with only its default settings (except for skin), try (with BSPlayer inactive) to delete (or temporarily rename or remove to another folder) the file "BSPlayer.[your user name].xml" in BSPlayer's installation folder.

Could you please try if the following work-around works for you:
Browse to "Skins"-(sub)folder.
Rightclick on skin-file you'd like to change to.
Select "Change name" and change extention .bsz into .zip.
(If asked for confirmation click "Yes")
Now extract .zip-file into a folder of its own name (inside Skins-folder).

Start-up BSPlayer Pro and try to change the skin.
What happens?
P.S.: You didn't give any response to my remarks:
from skin ? to skin ... [I meant skin-name(s)]
OS? (Adequate user-rights?) [Windows-version?]
Any memory-resident program? [like virus-protection?]
Additional question:
are the skins-files shown with a BSPlayer-related icon?

I am getting the same problem

I was using the Free version 1.35 (b820), I stopped a video and closed the player to answer the phone and when I came back 5 minutes later the skin had changed and it will not change back :?

I deleted the program, and the original installer and am now using the most recent build <Free version 1.35 (b823). and I installed this with no joy whatsoever

I have tried deleting 'BSPlayer.[your user name].xml' in BSPlayer's installation folder. and it didnt make any difference at all

here is my folder and my skins folder.

I dont want anything fancy, just to be able to use the bat lite skin which worked perfectly fine for the past several months until today, the other alternatives to the standard skin wont work either, Media box 1 gives me the same message and media box 2 says nothing whatsoever, no error message and no sking change either

all skins are zip files already and if try to alter the name then the zip part is missing anyway so they cannot be renamed, neither can they be unzipped as I have WinRar and when asked it asks me if I want to compress the files not open them

I am running a legal version of Windows XP and as I said, BS Player was fine and just changed by itself and wont go back again.

Its really starting to annoy me now but since its my standard video player because its my favorite and I would prefer to use this rather than find an alternative

any advice as I hate the normal skin but if its not changable I'm going to have to get used to it because I am not using another player

You can use my program (BSP SkinMaker - link in my signature) to decompress the skins.
Simply drag&drop the skin files into my program and follow these steps:

1. Choose the path where you want the skin to be extracted by pressing the Browse button.
2. Select the checkbox if you want a folder with the name of the skin to be automatically created in the folder you select.
3. Press the Extract button.

If you want to decompress the skins manually, you first have to visualize the file extensions!
To do this you have to select the item "Tools" in folder menu, then "Folder options...". Once the new window opens, select the "Visualizations" tab and remove the option "Hide extensions of most common file types".
Note that the strings I mentioned may be a little different since I don't have an English version of Windows!

thankyou for your rapid assistance Tivio :D

it now works great, and I have even downloaded a few different ones from the skins page to try them out

I am having another problem with BS but that isnt skins related so I wont discuss it here

thanks again Ray :D
