national SRT subtitles + extras

hi

i just encountered problem with letter "ю" - Cyrillic Small Letter Yu - FE in ANSI codepage 1251. Looks like BSPlayer removes 3 byte block from subtitle containing "ю" (this byte, previous and next). subtitle length remains intact, rendered text is padded by memory junk.
for example: 20 22 FE 22 2E will render as 20 2E 4A 4E 4B where 4A 4E 4B = junk

ALSO: BSPlayer unable to correctly seek in [paused] state doing so in some cases desynchonises subtitles and sometimes this action causes BSPlayer to show incorrect stream position

can somebody point me to other player with SRT subtiles support?

regards!

The first 128 characters are common to all countries.

The next 128 are specific to a particular one.

Lauch a film. In your menu select

Sub-titles -> Fonts -> Script -> Select the option that corresponds to your "country"

Hope it helps.

Don't use the latest build, it has a well known problem with some letters from not Latin alphabets. There've been many posts about this bug. Use bsplay085.486 for example.

("occidental"="western")
I'm afraid this may be true for Scotty81 and/or for the character type he uses, but in fact it does not depend on BSPlayer, but on what scripts are available in one's Windows-installation for a chosen character type (to be used by any application).
:?
Perhaps if Scotty81 would change the character-type he now uses into another type, he will observe that additional scripts may become available for that other character-type.

Well, use VobSub, it shows up russian text correctly. It has some other problems (erm, well, features) i.e. diplaying two subtitle entries at once, shifting latter string(s) on top of previous; also it lags a bit while rendering subtitles - that's probably because new overlay method used

P.S.: I've reported same problem ;)

I tried VobSUB and uninstalled it after few minutes, cause it didn't suite me somehow. Instead of it I prefer using ffdshow decoder which actually supports more sub formats than bsPlayer and ofcourse it's player independent as VobSUB (besides it's propbably best decoding filter I've ever found). ffdshow can be downloaded here.

I have the same problem with swedish SRT files. One special character's displayed wrong out of the three existing ones in the swedish language.

Both build 496 and 493 have the problem.

well , it seems that srt format is history for those of us who use codepages with special characters.. the last 3 (or more? i don't remember anymore)versions can not suport it anymore ..
However i don't think it's so importand since the sub format works fine -at least for the greek characters.Sure, i'd like to see the srt format working again but it's not such a big deal if i have to use another format.after all it doesn't take special skills to turn a srt file into sub ,does it? Simply rip your subtitles using the sub format or use subRip to save the srt files you get from the net into the sub format

No it doesn't, at least not anymore (rel 497).... Same problem occurs for one .se char in sub files as well. Works fine in WMP + VobSub.
