BSPlayer error... all 806 and 807

I was suddenly experiencing issues playing normal mpg files today where it would complain about not being able to read the end of the file or something. I figured, OK, time to check on an upgrade. I was running 806. So I dl 807.
It gave me the same error as below, so I uninstalled and went back to 806.
Here's teh errors:
BSPlayer v1.00.806, Unhandled exception at EIP: 004B1AD9
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.

I hit close:
Bytes at EIP: 81 7D E8 42 53 50 4C 74 19 8D 85 9C FE FF FF E8 4B 48

then close again to quit out.
If I hit continue, it plays a file, but if I try to DO ANYTHING it gives similar errors. If I try to close it down it does the same, and if I hit continue instead of close, it just goes back to the player instead of closing...

I'm running W2K and have been running BSP for a while with NO issues at all.. tis all just happened out of the blue and I have not changed anything on my system in the last week or more.

To call it frustrating would be rediculously understating my feelings.
But I don't know what to do. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall an even EARLIER version... but that sucks.

than ks for any help or ideas,
tsnake

hmmm....

OK... I posted to soon.
I downloaded 805, but before instlling, and after uninstalling the previous, I went to the program directory and deleted the remaining files (kept the skins and doc dirs), which were bsplist.bsl and errr.. one other, that doesn't appear to be in there anymore.
It ran just fine, so I daringly reinstalled 807 over it (no uninstall) and it appears to be running proper now.
Weird... very weird.
