Codec Pack

Well I first had an older version of the Kazaa lite codec pack installed but i was having some trouble with a few video files so I decided to uninstall the codec pack and install a newer one. Now that the newer one is installed windows media player dosent play any of the divx files like it used to, it will just act as though its playing a song and stay stuck, BUT bsPlayer will play the file after giving an error message. Is there anyway I can fix this problem?? I have tried unstalling the codec pack altogether and just installing divx but windows media player still wont play the files. I also tried reinstalling windows media player 9. Im assuming windows media player dosent see the codecs like it used to even though they are there again but I dont know.So thanx for any help ppl.

just FYI: My PC's with WinME (3 systems) all do have regsvr32!! (and quartz.dll indeed in system-folder and not in system32, exactly as bst indicated in his post for a Win9x system).

Have you done Windows-Updates? If not, I would advise you not to wait too long any more!

AFAIK regsvr32 is for win32 aplications. WinME is 16\32.

Problem was solved. Even if you have regsvr32, he didn't have it.

I know and that was exactly the reason of my posting: as it was clear to me from the thread that there are such (unsuspected (at least by me)) differences in WinMe installations, I just wanted also to let you know. Further as I couldn't help wondering whether (maybe) this could be owing to perhaps not updating Windows, I further advised not to wait too long before doing so (though that will still be possible till 30 June 2006).
