Can`t view certain movies... (format problem)

Hi,

this is probably going to be a very stupid question for you experts here, but I`m one of those "don`t know anything" people.

I`ve got the BS Player by a friend, together with some movies. I watched other movies without problems (sound, picture, everything perfectly fine), but when I try to watch these new ones, I get a window saying

"Unknow file format (DIV3)".

What can I do to fix that?

(Sorry if this question is just too dumb to be being posted here but as my dear friend is on holidays I can`t ask him.)

Thanks a lot in advance for any kind of help,
Elisa. :)

1. Install DivX 3.11. This is where Div3 comes.

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html

2. If you have DivX 5.21 installed then in it's options enable "support for generic MPEG4"

Only one of them is reqiered and enough. Don't need to do both of them. Choose the one you think is easier.

I would suggest FFDshow - this decode DivX3/4 and 5, as well as Xvid and some other formats too. Latest builds are very, VERY good:
