Divx plyer will still play files, but BSPlayer and other players all crash, I recvently upgraded to BS 2.1 and thats when the trouble started, I have backed it off to 1.37 (which worked fine before) but I still have this problem. I am also seeing crashes when trying to open Divx files with other applications such as Cucusoft video converter, I have been trying various applications, players etc, all with no luck. has anyone ran into a problem like this? Since it its not exclusive to BSPlayer I have to assume its some sort of system based problem that arrose during the upgrade.

any assistance is welcome. I have re-installed video drivers and applications to no avail.

Hi, have you install a codec pack?
If the answer is yes, then uninstall it and install only the codecs you need (read BSPeter's "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING" post items 1, 3 and 4)

If not, maybe you have installed another codec that now has problems, try to uninstall and then reinstall it and the problem will be fixed..

Otherways, I think the only other alternative is to re-register quartz.dll

No, I don't have any codec packs installed. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled DIVX and XVID codecs and BSPlayer 137.826 and checked the codec installs with DXMan and everything looks fine.

I no longer get the unhandled exception error, but when I go to run an AVI with BSPlayer is brings up the play screen tries to play, stops and just leaves me with a black window. The player doesn't crash or anything, just won't play any files. I guess thats an improvement over the crashing.

There must be something I am missing.

Again, the Divx player that comes with the Divx codec (6.2.5) plays the files fine.

After I had completely uninstalled everything I re-installed DirectX9 and then the codecs and then BS player. Still no joy.

Found the answer,

2 audio filters that can manage the audio part of the file. In BSPlayer filter management you can unregister nero audio decoder without uninstallin it. (options->preferencies->filter management->filter manager, select nero audio decoder and click on unregister button)

It was the Nero audio decoder, I unregistered it and voila!

Thanks for the help!
