Default Matroska Support (*.mkv)

Could BSPlayer be modified to have fullo matroska support?

IMHO, this is the next big thing, it accepts any video stream along with multiple audio streams, multiple subtitle files, chapter information...

In short, matroska is the right thing to make divx/xvid look like real DVD.

It would be nice if BSPlayer could read & choose subtitles, audio stream and chapter of choice. (Without VobSub, or similar programs)

When (if at all) can we expect these features?

Don't have any real experience with matroska files myself, but subtitles in Matroska files are suppported (UTF8) since build 803.

I have been waiting for this also. Media Player Classic has this feature already and I hope BSplayer would also soon.

BSPlayer does have good support for matroska video
With the latest 808 build you can do all that you named by itself: choose subtitle, audio stream or chapter.
There are a few things I would like to see added though: tag reading for streams names (subtitles show as Sub1, Sub2, etc only, same for audio), setting for default audio and subtitle stream, support for idx/sub subtitles type, attachments display, to name a few.
I hope the devs read this and perhaps add some of these in the next build ;)

Yes, BSP has a good support, but with vobsub displaying those ugly in-picture subtitles. I was hoping for more atural support.

Like you right-click movie window and there's few options in the menu to choose subtitles and audion streams and to handle them as if they have been loaded from outside *.srt, *.sub, *.txt file.

Do you understand what i mean?

Can and will this be implemented? If already is then sorry, my bad. :)

Looks like you're right. Thanks.
But does vob sub have to load? That green arrow?

Just uncheck Embedded under General tab in DirectVobSub configure and it shouldn't load for embedded subs like those in matroska files.

How do you add the chapters to the mkv-file?

I've tried to use the "internal" chapter-function of the matroska and also tried to attach a chf/cbf-file - both without success :(
BSPlayer (1.00.809) doesn't show them...
I've installed the "Matroska Full Pack" and used the MMG-GUI for creating the mkv-file. Video, Audio and even Subtitles work fine - just the chapters are missing...

thanx in advance,
Seppel

With mmg you need a chapter file in either ogg or xml format

Taking the chance, I'd like to request a few more features for matroska support

- preference settings for default language for subtitles and audio streams. That choice should be made from a list of standardized ISO codes for languages (ENG, FRE, GER, POR, SPA, etc.) since that information is already recorded in the stream. Also including a choice for no subtitles by default, which is not possible when muxing a mkv file

- matroska chapters may include several language strings, like this:

Currently, BSPlayer display only the last string. There could be a preference setting for chapters language (or maybe it could be taken the same language as for subtitles)

- mastroska allows to attach to the stream any kind of document (pictures, text files, etc), like this:

It would be great if the user was able to access those attachments in BSPlayer (there could be a menu item for Attachments, much in the same way as video, audio, chapters and subtitles)

For now it's just this ;)

Congrats to the dev team for this great player and keep on the good work :D
