Default problems with bsplayer

When I try to open a file, I have this error:Access violation at address 00000003. Write of address 00A3B59A. Can you help me! Thanks.

What OS do you have?
What type of file generates this message, or is it all files?
What codecs do you have installed?

I have W98
I try in .avi and .mpeg files and it doesn't go.
I have installed , divx 5.2, xvid 1.0.2 and the ffdshow.
