BSPlayer stops working for unknown reasons

It was running fine a couple of days ago. Now it won't play most of my videos. Here's the error it throws.

BSplayer v1.36.825, Unhandled exception at EIP: 00000000
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.

From time to time this error is also coupled with Data Execution Prevention from Windows. And it kills Windows Explorer.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it's hard to address since nobody of you have provided significant information regarding the possible cause of the problem..

Have you installed new applications?
Codecs? This happens with all media files or with some only?

jesped 24th April 2006 08:41 PM

Ok, this is the full error report I get:

I have KLite codec pack installed and always latest FFDShow, but tried unistalling both and the error shows up anyway, so I think it not's codec related. System is WinXP pro with 1.5 Gb and 2 monitors on a ATI 9800 pro with 128 Mb.

It happens always when closing the video file (any format) or closing BSplayer.

Any hints will be really appreciated.

Does this error occours with every movie? Only with avi files?
Does those files play fine in Windows Media Player or other players?

jesped 24th April 2006 11:26 PM

Errors occur with every file (tried avi, mpg, mov, rm, wmv, mp4) and all the files play ok in windows media player, zoomplayer, videolan, mplayer and nero showtime.

Tizio 25th April 2006 09:33 AM

Have you tried to uninstall BSplayer (and remove the BSplayer folder in the USER PROFILE folder: C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\BSplayer)?

Try to do so and then reinstall it..

Farlight 25th April 2006 11:24 AM

I can say right away it's not a BSPlayer fault, (kinda never is if it worked before). first of all "K-Little package" cause more problem then it fixes imo just so you know it's better to install codecs separately IMO. Secondly if it crashes all the time try deactivate any Winamp DSP plugin you might have running, I had strange crashes myself because of them also check Tweak settings in "K-Little package" there you can try deactivating the codec that I think is causing the crashes. Goolduck.

Generally the "closing" error was generated by some XviD build between 1.0 and 1.1. Try to uninstall FFDshow and install independent codecs and as XviD ver. 1.1.0 not 1.2.

J7N 27th April 2006 07:46 AM

Except that there are no independent decoders available for all formats ffdshow/libavcodec can decode...

I think first of all it should be better to upgrade BSplayer to ver 1.37.

Tizio 1st May 2006 04:00 PM

You can find v1.37 by reading BSPeter's "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING" post, item (a)
