What's the best MP4, MOV filters for BSplayer?

Hi, i tried 3ivx but it's trial expired and it does not play some .mp4 files but Quicktime does. But i don't want to be tended to Quicktime as it's too slow to use.

So, what's the complete and error-free mp4 and mov solution in order to play well with Bsplayer?

K-Lite's inside? Or seperated one by one? Which one?

Thanks.

Gabest MP4 splitter. MP4 files are often in H264 format and best decoder is CoreAVC (not free though). Audio is often AAC and good decoder for that is CoreAAC.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MP4_Splitter.htm
http://www.coreavc.com/
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...how_filter.htm

So install those 3 decoders/splitters and you will be able to play MP4 and MOV files just fine with BSPlayer.

Note: You can also use FFDShow to decode H264 video and AAC audio.

Digiface,
Thanks for your great help. Installed exactly the ones you recommended. But i have some questions: Some files or some formats (I also saw for .mp4) if you forward movie to a far position, then when you click to a previous location of timelines, sometimes video loses syncro then re-catches syncro.

My computer is strong enough to render mp4 even cpu usage is low during decoding.

What could be the reasons of syncro-lose problem when "SEEKING" on timeline? Normal?

Thanks.

Same advice you got here some time ago. Probably you missed that.

Yes, adicoto, i've forgotten. Digiface's recommendation is the same of your in
the link you've given.

But, Seeking problems related to Bsplayer or splitter? Which one?

The problem is: Sometimes i seek to a previous position on the timeline, the video freezes, but the sound and timeline counter goes on as it should be, but the video catches them later. Why?

Thanks. :)

Hi,
To update, I have CoreAVC/AAC works fine for .mov files but doesn't work for .mp4 files giving warning as unknown format. These .mp4 videos were downloaded from Nokia E65 phone. Is there a free .mp4 (and real-MP4 of course) filter that works fine with Bsplayer?

Thanks

adicoto 19th March 2008 09:12 PM

Nokia videos are 3GP format, not MP4, as far as I know.

Nope, besides 3GP recording, Nokia E65 and many modern Nokia phones are also recording videos file in .MP4 extension, but i'm not sure if internal codec consists of 3GP. And I saw nokia multimedia player opens them think with no certain codec reference :?

The video(.mp4) seems clear and smooth on the phone of course.

And so far, only Nero Video Decoder is decoding .mp4 but if i allow Nero to decode MP4, it also harms other formats such as MPEGs. So, it's a paradox.

So, do you have an MP4 splitter installed (such as Gabest) ?

kimiraikkonen 20th March 2008 09:21 PM

Yes, Gabest MP4 splitter is installed and works with .mov files, but no decoding with .mp4 extension.

adicoto 21st March 2008 06:43 AM

Do you also have an AMR decoder (supposing you record with the default settings) . Do you have an error message ?

No specific AMR codec is installed, the audio is played fine, but there's no video complaining with "Unknown Format" by Bsplayer. If Nokia Multimedia Player is the unique solution, it's a bit disappointing.

Digiface 21st March 2008 03:09 PM

What's the format used in those .mp4 files? I mean such a h264, DIVX, etc...

adicoto 21st March 2008 05:04 PM

Usually it's MPEG4.

Mobile phones use 3GP, a simplified version of MPEG-4 Part 12 (a.k.a MPEG-4/JPEG2000 ISO Base Media file format), with the .3gp and .3g2 extensions. These files also store non-MPEG-4 data (H.263, AMR, TX3G).

Nokia E65 specifications :

Multimedia
Video and audio streaming (3GPP & Real Media)
Music player (MP3/AAC) and media player
Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) digital rights management (DRM) 1.0 with forward lock

LE: can you send a link to such a file for testing purposes ?

How can i learn the internal format/codec? Just its extension is .mp4. Only can be opened with Nero Filters (which i completely disable Nero!) and Nokia Multimedia Player.

speedtrap 22nd March 2008 01:13 AM

MediaInfo can tell you the details of the file.

Thanks for the links, but none of them gave any idea about which codec is used in a .MP4 file that's recorded by a Nokia phone.

PS: I use search option before post, don't think i forgot

I'll try MediaInfo, as a GSpot user it didn't recognize .MP4.

I asked if you'd read item (3) of my Help2Help-post as I do not only mention GSpot in there:

.... (freeware) utilities like GSpot or Mediainfo or alternatively Avicodec or VideoInspector. For MP4 files you may use mp4UI instead.
