Arrow buttons - Jump in time function

Can I adjust the time that arrows skip in a movie? Also the <and> buttons?

adicoto 11th October 2008 03:03 PM

Open BSplayer preferences (Ctrl + P) and under "General" functions, on the right side, bottom, you will find "seconds to jump". Put there the time in seconds to jump that suits you the best. AFAIK, for the arrows, the time can't be modified.

Too bad the arrows can't be modified. Thank you for the help anyways!

But if you want you can assign Jump function to Arrow keys... (CTRL+P -> WinLIRC and Key definitions -> Search for Jump forward/backward -> assign them the arrow keys shortcuts, remember to change the Seek function shortcuts, otherwise BS.Player can't correctly handle both functions)

On a related note: I have done exactly that. I assigned the side arrow keys to the jump feature, and removed the seek function that used the same arrow keys assigned to it, and I changed the jump time to however many seconds I prefer. But it still jumps much more than that.
What to do?

In BSPlayer preferencies, in "general" tab, disable on the right hand the option "seek to the nearest frame" which is enabled by default.

Help in Bs.Player jump

On a different version of the Bs.Player I was able to move the video via arrows, like it was slowed or I was stepping from picture to picture.

I would like to archive the same, while I have the version 257.1051.

Thank You!

BSPeter 28th April 2011 03:25 PM

"Frame by frame" didn't change in version 257.1051. Still works by pausing movie ([spacebar]) and use right and left arrow keys to step through the movie
(Note this does also depend on the possibilities of the decoder/filter used!)

Make sure to uncheck/deselect "Seek by keyframes (AVI and MKV files)" under
(richtclick >) Options > Preferences > General [General settings]

Also: don't use "overlay mixer" for video rendering but instead e.g. try "Internal renderer Direct Draw surface" or "Internal renderer overlay" as "Rendering mode" under:
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video > [Video rendering]

That was great BSPeter! It worked! Thank you, I owe you one!
