Long delay before playing video

When I double click a video file there is long delay time before starting the video. Computer does not respond during that time. I wonder why. Thanks.

I also wonder why I can't play flv files with BS player.

Insufficient data provided to be able to give any conclusive answer.
(In fact no information given whatsoever.)
Version of BS.Player?
Some data on your PC and OS?
Virus security installed?
BS.Player does play flv:
http://forum.bsplayer.com/showthread.php?t=9070
When you load a flv file what filters/codecs are shown under:
(rightclick >) Options > Filters > Advanced ?
With respect to the delay maybe read:
http://forum.bsplayer.com/showthread.php?p=30489
http://forum.bsplayer.com/showthread.php?t=8573
http://forum.bsplayer.com/showthread.php?t=9141
Also your anti-virus program might be the cause.
I assume flv-extension is associated with BS.Player?
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > General/File types ?
:wink

BS Pro 2.34. I use XP with 3gb ram and nod32 installed.

I can't edit my posts..

Flv extension is checked in settings.

Probably it's due to the antivirus (probably also BSPeter thought about this by asking you what AV you have)
If you want to make a test you can add BSplayer to the NOD32 ignore list (in NOD32 v3.x you have to press F5 and add BSplayer to the Antivirus Exclusions list, I don't remember the shortcut for NOD32 v2.x)

If, by adding BSplayer to the antivirus ignore list, the startup time decreases, it means that the antivirus taks too much cpu cycles to scan for viruses BSplayer's "bsplayer.exe" executable. In this case you can choose to keep BSplayer in the ignore list or... to unpack BSplayer executable (search the forum for suggestions on how to do it)
