Maybe a better example would have been what happens when you open a pdf file with Adobe Reader and while e.g. reading page 5 of that...

Why don't you simply press Stop-button and then...

Why don't you simply press Stop-button and then Play-button (or [V]-key followed by [X]-key) instead of going back to the folder and double-clicking the video file (which is already running)?
