Yes, I have seen this kind of distorsion on MPEG2 files, but only on CD. Never on HDD. But, try a different MPEG 2 codec. If you use Elecard, try to change to InterVIdeo. See what is happening. How...

Can you tell us what codec is used to encode the movie, and what codec is used to decode the file ? (using GSpot or avicodec)
