Is it possible that you have selected a font that doesn't support hebrew ?

Right click -> options -> preferences -> subtitles -> click on Font button

Here you select the script (Hebrew) and the font used to render the subtitles.
In my case, I use central european for diacritics (ş, ţ...) but some of the fonts don't actually have this letters (font doesn't support romanian language). In this ideea I've asked. So, after selecting Hebrew encoding, also try to select another font, see the results.
