Error when requesting to use "open URL" function

When I paste a link in the "Open URL" question, I just see the word "error" at the top of my skin. The link pops up in the playlist, but it does not do anything when I click it.

Thank You

Could you post the URL?
And mention the BS.Player version you're usuing and perhaps your OS?

I'm using BS Player Pro 2.34. And I'm one of the unfortunate who has Vista...

Runing on windows 7, I can't open this URL. From what I see, this URL calls for a frame player based on flash (youtube kindof). So it's possible that this URL can't be played outside that frame.

LE: Tested this with other "catchers" and didn't worked. So, this probably can't be done due to the protections that site it's using against those who want to use other methods than direct web acces.

Same here..
All you can do is to download the video and then watch it with BSplayer.
I just tried and it worked:

1. Copy the url from tudou (in this case http://www.tudou.com/v/5JfnKdATBo8 )
2. Go to http://www.flvcd.com/
3. Paste the link in the search field http://www.flvcd.com/web-sm.gif
4. Replace the /v/ part of the link with /programs/view/ (in this case the link will become http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/5JfnKdATBo8 )
5. Press the GO button
6. You'll be presented with a link, just right click on it and select "Save destination as..."
7. Once the FLV file as been downloaded open it with BSplayer and enjoy watching the video ;)

To get the right link without the need to edit it by yourself as I showed you at the step 4, you can just click on the button before last in the bottom right side of the playing video on tudou, it's the one near the volume control button, just click it and copy the link (unfortunately I don't know Chinese and I can't tell you how the button is named)

Most probably a codecs/filters question.
Did you - at installation - allow BS.Player to install codecs/filters locally (i.e. for BS.Player's own 'internal' use only, so not interfering with others)?
If not, you can still do this by going to BS.Player's installation folder and running "bspcodecdl.exe" from there.

2.4 youtube new video format

Might be related to new format of YouTube videos.
Support for new format of streaming YouTube videos is included in 2.4 FREE and PRO. Give it a try. If this doesn't help, then use bspcodecdl.exe like suggested by BSPeter.

I can also confirm problems with You Tube content. Running BSPlayer Pro v2.40.997, Windows Vista 32Bit SP1. All latest codecs installed as per bspcodecdl.exe.
This is one example
YouTube - The worst week of Hamiltons life - The lie at Australian GP 2009
and this another one
YouTube - World of Adventure - Bike Messengers

It was working a couple of weeks ago, although I still found 1 in 10 did not.

I can confirm the first link. Opening URL gets an error, but the downloaded file in FLV format play ok.

I suggest you to update, which should fix your problem!
