Subtitles in different language

I am trying to load subtitles in Hebrew, but I can't see the letters. all i get is question marks (?). how can I fix it? If it's changing the Unicode, to which unicode should I change?
also, how do I set the online searching for subtitles to specific languages (Hebrew\ Hebrew+English)?
Thank you very much.

I have the same problem with subtitles in Spanish.

The problem appears only when special characters like á é í ó ú ñ are shown.

I honestly don't get this answer to the question. Isn't the player supposed to support special characters?

BSPlayer is the best player I've tried on Android and I specially love its DTS support + HW acceleration but this issue with subtitles gets really annoying and it seems to be the only player with this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For Spanish maybe select code ISO-8859-1.
