"Unknown File Format (DIV3)" Help!

I recently downloaded the 0.86 build 493 BS Player, but when I play some of my files it tells me "Unknown File Format (DIV3)". However, the file formats are just the same as the others, AVIs. Please, can someone help?

movies are not damaged!

I'm not sure if any software like avifix will help, because with BSplayer I get the Unknown Format DIV3 error but the same movie works fine with other players like DivX Player 2.1! The problem is not the header of the file, it's not the codec, then what is it???

Get a normal ffdshow decoders, dude. Your machine are messed-up.
Noproblemo with Div3 4 and 5 as well as Xvid movies there, using all BSplayers ever relased...
Latest night build 500, tought, kick ass!

Install divx 3.11. Or in bsplayer settings enable use divx4 to decode mp43, div3......... Now it should work. An by the way, bsplayer don't damage files.

I have the same problem but it writes Unknown File Format (DIV4)
I have latest K-Lite Codec Pack and BSPlayer 499 and Geforce 2 video card and for what have i install ffdshow decoders
PS but on other computer everything works fine....

Ok, this is a bug in BSPlayer..... when using Overlay Mode 1 the file is rendered and everything plays fine, when using Overlay Mode 2 it shows "Unknown file format". That's the case in build 499 and 500. (don't know about others).

But it's in default overlay mode 1.... :)

Dont use overlay mode2, if you have no clue, what this is all about.

...its just for mpeg2 movies (move accurate colors) - NOTHING for crappy DivX, Xvid and such mpeg4 low-bitrate codecs

Don't use codec packs. They are well intended but do more bad things than good things. Unknown file format appears when you don't have the codec installed or you have an incomplete file. Bsplayer can handle a light-damaged incomplete file but only that. Try open the file with mplayer2. If you get the message unknown file format..... attempting codec download.... then you lack the codec. First of all uninstalll codec pack. Go to www.divx.com/divx/ and download latest codec. Same for xvid: www.xvid.net the version 0.91. In bsplayer options enable use divx4 to decode div3, mp43......files.

Have to agree with the previous post : codecpacks only do more damage than good. Had so many unpleasant experiences with them I will never use them again.
All you need is the DivX codec, the Xvid codec, a DVD player software (like PowerDVD or WinDVD) so that you can see mpeg2 movies and play ac3 audio and mpgaudio.ax filter registered so that movie files with ac3 sound could be played. The AC3 filter is also a solution but it has a greater CPU load and may cause stuttering. That's it. Never needed anything else. (well, maybe the Indeo packs as they don't come with WinXp by default)
If you ever need another codec, go here and install it manually:

I founded that it is a problem of a file..... But i could play it before... I have to agree that BSPlayer spoils files smtimes...
