choppy playback

hi all

i am a newbie and i need some help here.

i am trying to playback a .avi file in bsplayer. but the picture is choppy. i've got
- DivX511bundle
- ffdshow-20031028
- XviD-Dec-160703
downloaded.

the preference on bsplayer is set to "force RGB" mode as anything else a black screen comes out.

Can anyone pls give me some advice to get a smooth playback?

thanks

Try uninstalling ffdshow. And then use overlay 1.

hi adicoto

ffdshow is uninstalled. try with overlay 1 = black screen. overlay 2 = black screen. force RGB = chopped/jerky playback.

any other help please?

thanks.

Have you tried using a different RGB-type? Did you try "Use VMR-9"? Further does setting a higher process priority under "General" make any difference?
What CPU / Graphics card do you have?
:wink:

@goosie

Maybe you should try another setting for the Audio output ... changing from SB Audigy Audio to the "default" setting worked wonders for me. :D

Changing overlay or RGB modes didn't change anything here.

hi BSPeter

VMR-9 cannot be used. "VMR9 is not available on this system. Make sure you have DirectX 9+ installed and latest video drivers"

Setting higher process priority also did not have any effects.

CPU = Pentium III 450MHz

Audio is already set at "default"

The sound is terrific, the subs work fine but my picture comes in jerky sequence. I am at my wits end! Help somebody!!!

ffdshow is the problem

I had the exact same problem (choppy playback). It turned to be ffdshow. Try to use an older official ffdshow-build & not an Athos-build. You can also try to use the DivX5.11 filter, which can now also playback XviD etc. (generic MPEG-4). This seems to work very well (for me).

I would suggest you to uninstall directvobsub.
:wink:

goosie 10th January 2004 03:10 PM

oh! so my directvobsub is the problem! but i need that to play OGM files in WMP. and besides i've done all sorts of thing to try to make BSplayer to work...either it has substitles but choppy playback or perfect playback but can't load subs. This is really driving me crazy. is there another player that i can use to load subs...maybe zoom player (heard of it)or something?
