movie is tearing apart
 

i've been using this prog since it's first release.
using the last releases i've encountered the strangest problem:
the movie seems to be tearing apart. like the program can't handle the advanced bitrate.
first. i thought it's a problem with the divx decoder configuration. selecting the options in the quality settings (smooth playback` couble buffering...) didnt help much.
i am not experiencing the same problem on windows media player or any other prog, yet i prefer bsplayer for it's convenience of use.
would love to get some help concerning the mentioned problem.

i noticed that others complained on the same problem in this forum (october) however, no solution was obtained.

does "tearing apart" mean the video is kind of distorted and oblique ?

supposing that is the case, I would recommend you to deactivate divxg400
(If you are the one I think you are (;)), you have this divxg400 installed)

another solution could be to change bsplayer's overlay mode, as I *think* only mode 2 starts divxg400

I never experienced a problem like this, not even with the latest build, what crash with Mode2 overlay, BTW... :wink: :cry:

Well I first saw this problem (not me, another user) some 6 months ago and disabling divxg400 fixed it.
I experienced it 2 days ago
I've been through thorough testing on the crop system of a specific encoder and 2 of the 15 videos I got were distorted like that.
disabling divxg400 fixed that. presumably there is a specific setting in divxg400 to change but I don't want to waste time on a device I don't use ;)

oh, I just checked something and it appears that both my distorted videos have dimensions non divisible by 16 (they're 718*286 and 716*286) [the other test videos have standard sizes - multiples of 16)

(I'm still on build 490 :wink:)

this willingness to share ideas, trying to help is actually quite admirable.

i'm sorry that i dont have the divxg400 installed and therefore can't deactive it.
i actually activate the player with the "use overlay" unmarked.

now, regarding the "tearing effect".
it's like seeing the movie while an horizontal line (very thin one) cuts it as if with the smallest knife in the world.
the patterns closest to the line are beeing distorted.

hope you've got more ideas i'll be glad to try and work.

sorry there's nothing more I can think of at the moment...

@maverick... what type of video card do you have? This tearing problem has to do with some of the video card settings and not with bsplayer. Many posts in other forums suggest to change the screen resolution, lower the color quality (32 bit to 16 or 8 bit), and also try other refresh rate for your monitor. If these did not help, see if you have an option for v-sync (vertical sync) for your video card. Right click on desktop > properties > settings > advanced and click on the video card tab (e.g. GeForce2 or Radeon etc...). See if there's a tab for OpenGL settings then look for v-sync. Make sure to leave it 'off'.
If all fails, get the most up to date driver for your video card.
