Cannot play MP3 or most AVI

I installed bsplayer to play some divx (or whatever) encoded videos that wouldn't work in windows media player (just choppy audio, no vido).
BSPlayer works on those, and mpg's, but hardly any other AVI's. When i try to open any mp3 file or particular avi files, i get:

BSPlayer v0.85.492, Unhandled exception at EIP: 004923A4

Any help or workaround? i'd really like to use bsplay instead of wmp for everything.

thanx

Exactly the same problem when trying to play .mp3

Is this for purpose? When trying to "load audio file" from menu, it says "please Open movie first"....?
Why this strange feature? I'm trying to totally replace M$ Windows Media Player with PSplayer (the most interesting I found until now), but this error/feature holds me from it.

thanks for any help

Load audio file is used when you have a movie with separate audio (e.g. it was the method to use with MicroDVD player when you wanted your film in several languages and mmswitch was not known). it synchronizes this separate audio with opened video, I believe.
To open any single audio file, you should use the "normal" open menu.

sorry to say I can't help more (build 490 works perfectly for me + I usually consider bsplayer as a video player only :-/ )

thanks for reply
I tried: audio files still do not load. I reinstalled BSP with the .zip (instead of the installer), no effect.
built 492 bug? any other experienced the same pb?
