Crashing with MPG files Is it Ok to ask questions regarding v1.36? Didn't see any warning so here goes... BSplayer 1.36 build 825 is crashing when opening certain .MPG/.MPEG files. The message is Quote:
I have ffdshow installed (rev 1685, from this week's release) and I can play the troublesome files with WMP11. What could be the matter here? |
MS-MPEG 4v3 and MPEG1 are 2 totally different things. I asume ffdshow it's used to decode all video formats. But what about audio codecs ? Wich filters do you use ? Still ffdshow ? |
During the installation, I selected ALL formats to be handled by ffdshow, including audio codecs (MP1, MP2, etc). Following your hint I inspected audio codecs for the faulty files and they are MPEG-1 layer 2 (which is enabled in ffdshow). In the video files BSplayer doesn't crash they are WMA v2. |
I would suggest to install an alternate MPEG decoder, such as Elecard (moonlight odio dekoda), or just disable ffdshow for MPEG audio. |
It worked! Disabling the audio codec had no effect but disabling the MPEG video codecs got things back to normal. Strangely, when I enabled the codecs again it worked without crashing! Thanks, I'll keep this in mind if things go bonkers again. |
