scaling problems in vista?

I just installed vista and since I loved bsplayer when I was using XP, I installed it right away now also, but I have a problem, for some reason it seems the video is scaling terrible, what I mean is that if i for example put a video in fullscreen, the video will have really bad quality, the lines and stuff in the video get all jagged and pixeled.
I tried to play around abit with settings and stuff but I can't really find anything that helps, I tried out to change rendering modes but none of them showed any improvement besides "Overlay Mixer" which seemed to fix my problems, though Vista doesn't seem to like it and keeps telling me something about bsplayer not being compitable with some visual elements in vista or something of that sort, someone know of a solution?

Edit: forgot to mention, when I go into fullscreen, the OSD seems to be upscaled along with the video window, but the resolution of the text stays the same as when the window was in 100% zoom, so the OSD text is all jagged and pixely also :/

it has been discussed here:

It seems it has something to do with Aero

I read through the thread you linked to but I believe he didn't find any real solution? and as far as I can see, the guy in that thread said that as long as aero is on it's ok, but i haven't disabled aero or anything like that and i still get this problem... it seems to me that in my case "overlay mixer" disables aero and that's when it starts working for me, not the other way around :/

Have you tried EVR rendering mode?

Mikkie 16th March 2008 06:36 PM

yes, that was the default mode bsplayer was in after my install

anyone? I can't use BSplayer right now cause of this problem, or rather I can but I won't cause it looks terrible... I'm getting by with Mediaplayer classic for now, but I like bsplayer alot more :/

I don't know since I don't have Vista on a real machine (only virtual) and I can't test its behavior in a real system

Try to use other codecs (for example ffdshow) and try all of the rendering modes.. I hope you'll be able to fix it..

Version of BS Player

Same thing happened to me... one thing... it happened few months ago when I upgraded BS player to a newer version... was fine before (sorry I don't remember the version but it was fine with the first version I downloaded in Nov 2007)... not sure if it helps.
