Flash Video (flv) suppor?

Is there any posibility to include FLV files support? that's because I have many videos in this format and I don't want to use alternatives players.

Thanks.

Could be done.

grendizer 8th March 2007 07:05 PM

any update on that? Can BsPlayer read flash movies now? 8)

K-Lite Codec Pack has a filter for playing .flv files. It works great with BSPlayer.

There is a FLV splitter available. One of them is Gabest and can be found on sourceforge:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...kage_id=183318

or here:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=FLV_Splitter

LE: The package contains Gabest splitter. Though, after installing and downloading a file from internet I wasn't able to play the file. It's recognised as an audio file, but even so, it's not correctly played.

speedtrap 9th March 2007 02:35 PM

You'll need ffdshow too for decoding FLV1 video.

The splitter available Gabest's website does not support FLV4/VP62 video. You'll need a more recent version for that. Look on Celtic_Druid's website. KLCP has the newer version too.

adicoto 9th March 2007 05:44 PM

I know about FFDShow, it was the sole reason for wich I've installed it.
There is more than that. The file isn't played with any FLV splitter, but MPC play the file OK (MPC is Gabest and uses Gabest FLV splitter).
GraphEdit is playing the file also using same splitter. Strange.

adicoto 10th March 2007 04:33 PM

Strangest of all
After registering the splitter, all HDTV files begin to play in slow motion (took me some time to figure out that this splitter was the cause). MPEG2, MPEG4AVC files, all playing in slo-mo. Solved by unregistering the filter. Any ideea what caused that ?

I have no such problems with BSplayer Pro 2.15

uf.on 20th March 2007 12:02 AM

Unfortunately, I have similar problem... I have FFDshow with FLV splitter installed, but only some FLV files can be viewed in BSPlayer. For example this video works, but this doesn't work (if you download them to the disk). For videos which don't work is displayed crazy time (20s clip appears like 50 minutes long video) and neither video nor audio is playing. Sometimes Unhandled exception occurs and in rare cases even DrWatson has to come...

Reinstall codecs you might say... but the "problem" is that in the most basic player - Windows Media Player 6.4 - I can play any FLV file without any problem (video and audio work for all files). If I uninstall splitter, no surprise that I can't play/watch any FLV file in any player... therefore codec is ok, isn't it?

J7N 20th March 2007 06:20 AM

It is possible that BSPlayer detects the wrong file format and doesn't even attempt to use the FLV splitter. Could it be so? For example, if a complex media file contains a sequence of 2 MP3 audio frames, the whole file might be detected as Mp3 (with a metadata tag at the beginning, if you would like). I'd workaround this situation by lowering the merit of my MP3 decoder.

uf.on 25th March 2007 05:37 PM

You're right, J7N - I checked it right now - when "bad" FLV started playing, FFDshow (with FLV splitter) didn't launch, and when I looked into filters, MPEG Layer 3 was used. You can see it in the image below

http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/1...rflvrs8.th.gif

Unfortunately changing the priority of the filters didn't work. I tried to set FLV-related filters (FLV source, decoder and splitter) as high as possible and even disabled mp3 filter, but the only result was that another audio filter got to decoding (Nero Audio...). Is there any way how to force BSPlayer to decode FLV files with proper filter?

J7N 25th March 2007 07:49 PM

Well, you should get rid of Nero stuff anyway. It is unstable, and eats CPU and memory. If you already have ffdshow you can try its MPEG Layer-3 decoding abilities instead of Fraunhoffer's. Maybe ffdshow won't take over other media files.

(You'll have to research this yourself, since my experience is only with Matroska/MPEG-2 files detected as MPEG-2 PS = garbage.)

In BSplayer filter manager you can associate to media types the desired filter.
Open BSplayer preferences (CTRL+P), then go to Filter management section, select both checkboxes and in the priority filters tab add the desired filter, add a media type to that filter then add a sub type (the subtype should be the FourCC code)

Tizio 25th March 2007 08:03 PM

Just tried with a FLV file that months ago didn't worked, now just by adding the Gabest FLV splitter to the priority filter BSplayer was been able to decode it!
(this just came in mind to me thanks to RafkeP who asked me today to try to load his filter this way  )

Thanks Rafke

As posted above, there are files that do play, and some won't.

Using vista, when trying to add the media tipe:

BSplayer v2.15.943, Unhandled exception at EIP: 77C571EE

Yes, in fact I had 2 FLV files, one played fines and the other not (everytime I tried to play it it gave me an window error message). Then I added FLV Splitter to the priority list and BSplayer was been able to play alsto that file :)

Now I tried to play the "broken" file posted above, and I can't play it...it doesn't give me error messages, only play it as audio file.. so? 3 file categories for FLV type?

Anyway I tried to play it with GSpot and with GraphEdit and both of them were able to play the incriminated file, so it's definitely a problem in BSplayer graphic filter building.. I don't know if it give priority to audio streams or what, but it was anyway the only one who reported the exact filelenght (GSpot told me ~29hours intead of 3minutes)

adicoto 25th March 2007 09:20 PM

Same here. Me bad. By not playing I ment it's only the audio part that it's identified. Was the same under XP.

Thanks, but I still can't make it :( Sorry... I added "desired filter" - FLV Splitter / Video Decoder, but I don't know what I do have to add as media type and sub type.

From media types, I can choose from: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}, MEDIATYPE_Audio, MEDIATYPE_DVD_ENCRYPTED_PACK, MEDIATYPE_MPEG2_PES, MEDIATYPE_Text and MEDIATYPE_Video. I chose the last one.

From media subtypes, I can choose from: MEDIASUBTYPE_3vix, MEDIASUBTYPE_CLPL, MEDIASUBTYPE_divx, MEDIASUBTYPE_xvid etc. etc., but there's no MEDIASUBTYPE_FLV or something like that. I have FourCC installed, but I don't know which code do you mean and where I could find it.

Tizio 26th March 2007 08:00 PM

If you add ffdshow video decoder to the priority list a Video Type and a YV12 Subtype is added (it's not the fourcc code :P ), but it doesn't work :( , plus you can't manually add subtypes not available in the list (maybe this should be added to the request section)

It's a problem in BSplayer graphic builder engine.. with GSpot and GraphEdit I can open the video you linked, but not in BSplayer, sorry
