spdif, Win32 waveout extension/a52

You have created a great product! It's almost perfect, but spdif support could be better. VideoLAN has an alternative for "Win32 waveOut extension output" and spdif/a52. This is the only player I have found that actually works with my sound card (RealTek ALC889A). I promise to purchase the full version if you add this feature! :)

Have you already tried to play with BSplayer audio settings? (CTRL+P -> Audio -> For AC3 decoding use.... ther you can select the default filter to use when decoding AC3 audio streams, and use the filter that can properly output the audio to your hardware, you can access that filter properties once the movie starts by right-clicking -> Options -> Filters -> Advanced - > select the used filter and set the correct outputs)
If you use Intervideo AC3 you can also select your output settings in BSplayer preferences window (CTRL+P -> Audio -> InterVideo AC3)

ALC 889A it's an onboard audio codec, not a sound card. Should work fine with BSPlayer if you have the propr filter installed (AC3Filter for example)

When I select the Intervideo ac3-decoder the setting is not saved for some reason. Played around a lot with AC3Filter, but it says my soundcard is not supported. Is there an alternative? I Also tried to output the signal as PCM, but the result was not pretty.

Can you post here a screenshot of AC3Filter error message ?
Can you also please specify in here what mnotherboard do you have ? (as the sound codec is built in to the motherboard)

I have a Gigabyte ga-ep45-ds5 motherboard.

Ac3filter says the following:

Input format: DTS - 48000
User format: PCM16 3/2.1 (5.1) 0
Output format: PCM16 3/2.1 (5.1) 48000

Use SPDIF
SPDIF status: Disabled (SPDIF output is not supported)
SPDIF passthrough for: AC3 DTS
Use AC3 encoder (encode stereo PCM)
Do not check SPDIF sample rate
Query for SPDIF output support

Decoding chain:

Anyone has a sloution for this? I have exactly the same problem! (BSPlayer 2.34, ac3filter 1.51)

mauritsdvh 30th January 2009 10:15 AM

Ah, you have to uncheck "check output format support"". That did it for me!
