Problem With Multiple Subtitles

Yo.

When watching Japanese anime, sometimes two people speak at once.

Therefore, you need two lines of text for the subtitles.

The problem is that my BS Player only ever shows one when other players simply has one on the top and one on the bottom.

This is a great shame as I've become quite used to BS Player and I wouldn't really like to switch to a different player.

So, any help? I've been Googling for a while now but so far my efforts have been unfruitful. :/

Does the second line got truncated, or it simply is displayed out of screen and so invisible to you?
Have you already tried to move subtitles? There's a section related to subtitles in BSPeter's FAQ linked in my signature

Yeah, they're truncated and mixed in with the other line of subtitles.

BS Player Crashes

Hey.

Nowadays nearly everytime I watch a vid in BS Player, it crashes and I get numerous "FFV" and "FFA" icons in the taskbar.

Any suggestions?

Maybe it's a big secret but I ask nevertheless.
Version and build of BS.Player?
Type of vid? Perhaps small example file (or link)?

BS Player PRO version 2.43 Build 1008.

Got it quite recently.

That's what my taskbar looks like. More and more FFV's and FFA's come every minuite while BS Player's open.

I think it's something to do with codecs.

Those FFv and FFa icons ore FFDShow systray icons (FFDShow Video+Audio decoders).
Have you tried to pass the mouse over those icons? Do they disappear?

Are you sure that BSplayer handles the subtitles rendering, or FFDShow has been set to handle them?

BSPeter 17th October 2009 05:57 PM

Again: Type of vid? Perhaps small example file (or link)?
Note that as a registered purchaser of Pro-version you're entitled to obtain direct e-mail support from BS.Player team itself: Contact Us - BS.Player.com. Did you contact them already?

Yeah, they dissapear on mouseover. (all but two of them)

It happens with all types of videos, I think.

Avi and XVID, at least.

And thanks Peter, I'll email the team as well!

Tizio 17th October 2009 11:35 PM

If they disappear it means that when FFDShow got deinitialized, it can't properly close itself.
Can you provide also a subtitle file affected by this problem?

adicoto 18th October 2009 09:26 PM

Usually anime files come with ASS / SSA subtitles. To enable support for them, please go to options->preferences->subtitles and enable "support for new renderer". Now you should be able to see both subtitles.

Parthian Shot 19th October 2009 03:57 PM

Hmm, well now BS Player isn't crashing, but the the icons still appear.

Not only that, but it happens with all videos and not just when I use BS Player. o_0

I'm thinking this isn't a BS Player problem, but a bug in FFDShow...

As I have written before, it can't properly close itself, try to reinstall it...
