Bsplayer can't open ssa subs?

Why don't you ask nicely?! Did you pay for the product?

As far as I know ssa (Substation Alpha) subtitles are not (yet) supported by BSPlayer. You'll have to wait and see!
In the meantime you could perhaps convert your ssa-subtitles to a type which BSPlayer does support.
There are several utilities to do that. I think that e.g. Subtitle Workshop and/or SubMax (look for links in this post) could do such conversion. (Don't know for sure as I didn't use either of them myself so far!)
