Something is wrong with my audio

This has only happend recently when I try to view media files with BSplayer. When I open a media file, the sound becomes obscured and is hard to understand. There is A LOT if static and the voices are barely audible. I do not remember installing any new codecs or drivers recently, and I have not changed any audio settings. I have no idea why or how this happend. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did something happen to mess with your equilizer (Alt-G)? Just click on default and it should fix the problem, hopefully.

everything was the same, but I did just download some other movies in .avi format. The obscure and interfering noise only happens when i try to play .OGM files. I have the latest OGG codec installed and it still happens.

Don't know if it will help but I had huge problems with my audio once : it was causing parasites and blue screens. Then I found out it was a ram problem!

Could you post here what filters are used to decode the file ?
(when playing the file, rightclick->options->filters)

dojinacu 17th May 2005 09:59 PM

In the Filters Menu I get:

-Default DirectSound Device
-XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder
-Vorbus Decoder
and
-OGG Splitter

Theres an advance option to but it just shows everything in a different menu

can somebody please help me with my audio problem?

BSPlayer play OGM's with some really wierd and obscure noise. I have the latest OGG codec installed already and all my sound options are at default. I have no idea what is causing the problem. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

1. What version of vorbis decoder do you have ?
2. What version of OGG splitter do you have

I think that the problem is one of them, but:

3. What happens if you swich in audio preferences among default, your soundcard, and other devices ?

dojinacu 24th May 2005 01:43 AM

I have Vorbis Decoder 0.9.9.5 and OGG Filter 0.9.9.5

I dont really know how to switch the audio preferences but I guess I'll figget with it some more

In my post:

http://forum.bsplayer.org/viewtopic....ht=list+codecs

You will find this

For those who encountered errors using OGGDS0995, and for mode 3+ :
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA012...m_20020708.zip

Download the vorbis ACM and see if it works. As I lack OGM files, I can't test other filters if there are newer, but this one solved about 3 month ago many problems. It is not a new ACM ( it's from 2002) but it worked.

the second link doesnt work. When I click on it it brings me to a page that has Forbidden in big letters on it. Thanks for the OGG codec, I'm gonna give it a spin.

Thanks a bunch for the ACM Codec, but where do I put it?

Sorry for being such an idiot lol, but I'm new to this codec stuff.

Anybody know where I put the ACM codec? After I decompress it from the .rar all it gives me is a folder that has "vorbis.acm" in it.

Tizio 1st June 2005 07:54 PM

To install it, unzip "vorbis_acm.zip" in a folder, then right-click on the "Vorbisacm.inf" file and choose "Install".

Thanks for all your help guys, but it's still not working. I have tried everything you guys told me and even uninstalled/reinstalled BSPlayer into a new folder. :(
