Default Virus detected

I use Freedom as my anti virus. Every time I try to install BS Pro (newest version 1.37, build 826), Freedom detects a virus on webteh disk 6 and will allow BS Pro to install, but won't allow it to start. as soon as I click on the desktop icon , Freedom comes up and says unknown virus detected, please delete file. Never happened with any previous version of BS Pro. i have removed and reinstalled approx 6 times with the same result.
I really enjoy the player, but I can't use it if I can't install it. I'm also expierencing the same problem that srokxkhmer describes in the BS Downloads thread.
thanks
Craig G.

sorry I misunderstood, language really doesn't matter. At least until the problem is fixed by BS team.

No problem here using NAV. Isn't there any option to exclude from scan some files (NAV does have one). So you can tell your antivirus not to scan bsplayer.exe and it should work OK.

AFAIK, every decent AV should have something like this

Also using F-Prot and a same 'possible virus detected' every time. I upgraded the latest version (downloaded from the BSplayer website) but the warning is the same.

If someone having the "Possible virus detected" problem could kindly try with an old version of BSplayer, maybe we could find out if the problem is BSplayer or the virus checking method..

I think that if a possible virus is found on an old version too.. the problem resides in the antivirus program.. but I can be wrong

The definitive answer will be given from next virus definition files and from BSplayer team

Let's wait and see where the problem lays :?

i have two older install packages here: bsplayer121.816.exe > OK, bsplayer136.825.exe > NOT OK (possible virus detected). switched back to old version until it's clear what exactly is going wrong.

Default RE: Older version

As I said in my original post- the problem did not exist until I upgraded to the 137 build 826 version. As a work around I have disabled my realtime
virus scan capability while running BS Player, however I shouldn't have to do this. I hope and believe that the problem will soon be found and resolved. BS Player is the best I have found, but as a firewall/anti virus
suite Freedom is heads above the mainstream offerings. When combined with TuneUp Utilities, an exceptional piece of software that really works to keep Microsoft ,and My, screw ups under control. I have had over a year of trouble free operation. I'm running HyperOS multi OS system which is a real pain to set up, newer versions are much better, but really fantastic once set up. If I have an XP system go bad I just dump it and load the HyperOs image and I'm back in business- takes about 3 minutes for 20 Gig sys. Sorry I'm rambling on. Thanks again.

I also have F-prot antivirus and got the unknown virus detection on bsplayer.exe

I downloaded the latest free version of this offical site (1.37) and all remains the same.

I thought that it was just me and my pc, but now I know that I'm not the only one, and not the only antivirus.

I think the problem is the packer of bsplayer (wwpack) which is considered suspicious by the new definitions of antivirus software.

What shoud we do in the meantime? ? ?
My antivirus doesn't have an option to exclude files, and bsplayer is by far the best player that ever existed.
So, what option do we have till a solution arrives? ? ?

Thanks...

For now the only solution I think is to change your antivirus program, otherwise you can submit the false-positive detection to F-Prot staff by submitting a message in this form: http://www.f-prot.com/virusinfo/submission_form.html

Confirmed:
Running latest version of Antivir PE classic with heuristic scan enabled.
Before last update, nothing found. Just updated and it claims that the bplay.exe for BSplayer 0.85 build 492 is a generic backdoor.

Nothing found for Bsplayer 1.3.6 build 824.

Nothing found for Bsplayer 1.3.6 build 824.
Maybe the generic backdoor is the connection with WinLIRC client for TV remote control (a feature that enables you to use your TV remote to control BSplayer as it is a stand-alone DVD player)

I don't want to be impolite but I won't change my retail version antivirus software just for that. By the way, I have submitted the false-positive detection before posting the problem here.

I have uptaded f-prot til its last update (february 9th) and nothing happened. It still reports bsplayer.exe as an unknown virus.

I know I cannot demand a solution because I haven't paid for bsplayer (I use the free version), but it will be very nice to see that the problem will be fixed in an upcoming version of bsplayer.

Thanks...
