"Can't create directdraw surface!" or picture trem

When i open some *.avi coded with X.264, bsplayer is warning "Can't create directdraw surface!" and then file open failed. But if MPC or WMP, things does OK.
--BSPlayer Pro 1.37 build 826, FX5700LE with v66.93 drivers, rendering mode "default", decoder CoreCodec for 264. This setting is also OK for most media files i have.

If i change the rendering mode setting to "Overlay mixer", the X.264 coded file is open perfectly. But there is picture trembling(a little but obvious) when i open some mpg files, e.g. "C.More.HD.Demo.mpg" . Moonlight decoder.

So the question is: Do i always necessary to change the rendering mode setting according to diverse media files? Can BSPlayer suggest a universal rendering mode setting for the users or to fix something bug??

BTW, the fast decoder to H.264/X.264 that i have ever met is "CoreCodec AVC DirectShow Video Decoder", faster than ffshow.

Bless you understanding my English. Thanks!

But ffdshow is a bit more compatible with H.264/X.264 encoded files.. :?
Is so much noticeable the difference in decoding speed between ffdshow and corecodec??

yeah, maybe the compatible problem. when i uncheck "hardware accelerating" in mpeg2 decorder. and use "overlay mixer" always.

Try this may see the the difference :)

only corecodec decorder can perform 30fps on my pc, Celeron3.6g+1G Ram+5700LE

Unfotunally I have a 56K speed connection, so I can't download the file, but since it's an Hi Definition video ( 1080 progressive) I think that corecodec decoder is much faster than ffdshow

Yeah, maybe a better compatibility should be added for HD videos :)
