Won't play AC3 through the SPDIF

Really annoying problem, I have aC3filter installed.

I have a divx file with AC3. It plays through the SPDIF in WMP and VLC, but not BSplayer. In options, under audio, I check use SPDIF, but it doesn;t do it, restart the player and it's unchecked again (nothing is checked).

What's going on? Thanks.

Which version of AC3 filter? Why I'm asking?
Because several versions 1.xx appear to have some difficulties with SPDIF.
Personally I'm still using stable version 0.70b (which only supports AC3 as opposed to the newer alpha (and the very recent beta) versions which also support PCM-sound)
Since just a week or so there is a new and apparently quite stable beta version 1.10b, but I've not installed it, as the 0.70b version I'm using, fully covers my needs.
Read the information at http://ac3filter.net/

And if you refer to SPDIF option under Audio section in preferences window (as already said in BSPeter's sticky post), it's only for InterVideo AC3 and not for AC3 Filter

If you want to change AC3 Filters options you can (with a movie with ac3 audio) right-click on BSplayer and choose Options -> Filters -> Advanced and then select AC3 from that window.
Alternatively you can set "offline" options by searching for AC3Filter under START -> All Programs

Well the 0.7 version works a treat.

Weird how it was for only bsplayer, but it's working now.

Thanks so much for this advice

I was using 1.10b , I would get muffled 2.0 sound thru SPDIF when playing 5.1 AC3 files.

Went back to 0.7 and everything is perfect again.

As they say at OldVersion.com, "newer is not necessarily better"

Cheers

Or "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" (by always installing the latest versions of drivers, codecs, filters, ... etc).
(E.g. I'm also still using DivX5.2.1)
