Doesn't matter how encoded: XviD, DivX, Div3 ... all the same result (decoding with DivX5.2.1.1335):
v 0.86 steps by frames and v1.x/v2.x step by seconds.

As I've said, interlacing. Sorry, I know that BSPeter it's using 5.21 (you posted this information earlier) but I don't know wich build it's used by Tizio. My mistake to not specify to whom was the question

Tizio 8th May 2007 07:55 PM

I just posted this to make you all know that I didn't make a test with both decoders before, but now I did and the result is the same, it works, but I tried with DivX 6.5.1.0

adicoto 8th May 2007 07:56 PM

Are you sure the decoder it's 6.5 ?

Then we have a difference between you and Peter.

Yes, but we already knew that. The more interesting trick is to find out the different behaviour of v0.86 and v1.x/v2.x (with the same codec). I personally suspect the overlay mixer.

adicoto 8th May 2007 09:04 PM

You knew, I wasn't sure. The PRO package usually comes with 5.21 not with 6.5.10. This isn't an official release I think.
There are a lot of possible things that can make the difference. But as the same version isn't working on your computer but work OK at me (2 computers) and Tizio too, I think the problems it's more complex than that.

I think you're quite right, its comments saying "DivX Video Decoder ReleaseBuild: TopSecretBuild pro+std", it doesn't sound like a regular release.

Overlay mixer to be, then. Same result as you (1 sec jumps) if swiched to overlay mixer. Internal renderer working OK.

BSPeter 9th May 2007 10:34 AM

Yes, I already imagined so, but as I earlier mentioned, then I have a black screen:
Quote:

If I use anything else then "Overlay mixer" the screen goes black (it does appear to step frame-by-frame, but only doesn't show it).
(P.S.: I'm using Geforce4/Nvidia)
Anyhow, meanwhile established it is a hardware accelleration/Direct Draw (DirectX) issue. If I switch it off, I can use internal renderers and stepping is frame-by-frame. (RGB)
There still is a difference with 0.86 version though. Version 0.86 apparently is not bothered by the same (DirectX) issue as v2.x.
Anyhow, it seems I have to sort out my DirectX problems.

BSPeter 9th May 2007 02:37 PM

All DXdiag-tests came out positive.
Installed latest forceware driver (to no avail).
Well, seems like I have to accept present fate.
(At least until BSPlayer team figure out a rendering-option for v2.x which accomplishes the same as v.0.86).
What is your position Dimkom?
What video card do you have?
If you switch off Direct Draw .... similar result as I?

As I said before, I was testing a codec pack, so that codec has been ripped off that pack and used to test this method, I never installed Official DivX 6 (only v5s)

Anyway I never had problems on my old PC (with an Nvidia GeForce 2 card and then a GF4MX one) at least until v2.14 (and on my old PC I always used DivX v5.2)

After I move forward by 1 (or more) frame, then just wait, BSplayer starts moving forward by 1 frame every 5 seconds, just by itself :o

EDIT:
Test this one and then report, please, I'm really interested into this one
Good night, I have to sleep, tomorrow will be a loooooong day 8)

The right behaviour (without moving) was in 0...1.137[826] versions.
I've just setup 2.69[1078] version and became convinced in the moving. I have to use the 1.137. It could be fine to have the right behaviour in a new version.

Update. If use Internal render DirectDraw surface (the first in the list of Rendering modes), the movement will be missing!
