Hy, im new in the forum but an old old user of BsPlayer.
My prb is, i have an 19" widescreen CRT display and i saw that on a friend's computer with an 19" TFT a little wider but smaller in height, all movies are stretched, very nice placed, but on my display the movies are not stretched and 30% of the screen is taken by that black portions.I tried different aspect ratios but i didnt succedeed to make the videos stretched like on my friend's display. I saw in the options that i can use custom aspect ratios and i manage to reduce the black portions a bit without messing the picture with an custom 16:10, so can someone tell me how can i calculate or set the options to fit my displey. Oh and the Cut borders.....in fullscreen doesnt do nothin'

So, basically, the CRTs are 4:3 format, and if the image you are playing is 16:9, to achieve the width of the screen the player must add black borders on top and bottom. Same thing will happen on your friend widescreen when playing 4:3 files, the player will add black borders...but on left and right, to achieve the full height of the movie.
If you play a 16:9 file and want to keep the whole information then you must have black borders. You may also zoom into the image, but you will lose some parts of the image. Did I made myself clear ?
On the other hand, if you have a wrong aspect ratio (faces are too thin or too fat)you may wanna check the options you have by pressing shft+1, +2 and +3.

LE seems there are indeed some widescreen CRT. Let me check a little. Can you post here the model ?
LE2: cut top and botom does apply to widescreen when playing 4:3 files. You will notice a zoom inside the image.
LE3 Seems that most of the CRTs are 16:10. Like my laptop screen. You will have small black borders on top and at the bottom. But some 10 % of the image.

Its an Philips 109E5, in the manual and on the back it says widescreen i understand the rest of the explanation.

This is not a widescreen CRT. This is a standard 4:3 CRT.

Rezolutie maxima: 1920 x 1440 taht's 4:3

This is why you have those blackbars top and bottom.

Normally, widescreen CRTs are over 22".

notice the difference from 1920 x 1440 ? It's 400 pixels wider than yours.

This is unbeliavable, on the back i have a sticker, and when i purchased the display they say its widescreen, even in the bill it says. NOW someone has to explain somethin'

Maybe the Romanian translation isn't entirely flawless; I quote a phrase from the English manual (the Dutch manual is similar): Perhaps "large screen display" is translated into "wide screen display"?

That's why I do not trust translations in my native language. These translations are either with errors or of the same quality, but never better than the English original.

Many times translations are made by BAD automatic translators :twisted:

Especially for electronics I prefer to use manuals in the English language as well (rather than Dutch), but I must say I occasionally also check other translations (e.g. French, German, Italian or Spanish) as some form of reference.
