Trouble playing DVDs with BS Player 2.20

I have two issues:

when I attempt to open most DVDs, the screen just stays black, and nothing loads. The DVD is spinning, and the player progress bar skips around like crazy, but the DVD never comes up. I can play DVDs with Windows media player.

When attempting to play "Fearless" the only think to come up was something to the effect of: "current parental settings do not allow you to play this movie, please eject disc" How do I adjust parental settings, I can't find them.

BSPlayer require an external MPEG2 decoder to play video DVDs. Wich one you have installed ? (open a dvd, rightclick->options->filters->advanced)

I have no idea, even after following that route. Can you tell what I need to do from these pictures?

In this screenshots I can't see any MPEG2 decoder actually working. FFDShow can do MPEG2 decoding but not DVD playback. Try to install Elecard, Cyberlink or InterVideo codecs. If you do a quick search oin the forum you may find something usefull.

Look for Tizio's post

Well, the similar problem here.
The quick search didn't produced any acceptable hits and neither the long search.
Elecard isn't a freeware. When playing DVD's is installed with WinDVD and Media Player, buying an extra Elecard decoder doesn't feel right.

How to force BSplayer to use installed Mpeg 2 codecs?

If you have Intervideo WinDVD then you won't need any other codec for MPEG2. BSplayer can use Intervideo's filters to decode MPEG2 and for DVD playback..

Thanks. But I can only play the wob, when I use File open DVD, the BSplayer 2.1 Pro screen remains black. Obviously BSplayer doesn't know how to handle common DVD menu system.

That's not true. It can play DVD with menus with no problem. Could you try to swich rendering method to direct draw overlay or overlay mixer (open file->rightclick->options->preferencies->video->video rendering)

It loads the DVD 720x480 @ 29.97 and stops there.
File name displayed is video_ts.ifo instead of dvd label name.
Rendering settings:
Wait for vertical blank

I also tried:
Internal renderer directdraw surface
Internal renderer overlay (default)
Overlay mixer
mode 1

there weren't such as "direct draw overlay"

Can you post here wich filters are in use when doing that ? (rightclick->options->filters->advanced) ? Is there any Ahead (nero) filter in use ?

Hi, I have the same problem - blank screen when playing DVDs. Here are the filters used:

And did you try as adicoto suggested two posts above yours?

Well, after restarting it began working, but not every time :( Sometimes, when I put the DVD, it asks me whether to open it using BSplayer and when I click YES, BSP opens with a blank screen.

Also, I'd like to ask how to turn off the function that BSP remembers the last movie position - I mean that when I insert and play the DVD, it starts not from the beginning of the movie but from the point where it stopped last time.

If you're using Pro version (which supports DVD menus) BS.Player should ask you what you want (5th bullit):

If you're playing video-file, check settings under
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > General > [General settings]
(What version/build are you using?)

I'm with Pro version 2.10 build 939
And no, it doesn't ask me what I want

And also, this problem that I mentioned of above, happens only when playing DVD files, not other types.

If you follow the link I posted, you can see that it leads to changes made from version 2.20. Your version simply doesn't support it yet.
