record clip from avi file?

I keep hearing about capture. I can capture images while the video is playing, but is this program able to capture a clip? Is this what is referred to as capture video? I tried looking through the capture options and noticed there is a video and audio drop down menu, but there is nothing in it.

So can i record(capture?) a clip from lets say *.avi asf wmv mpg files? If so please provide instructions.

Thanks

Unfortunally not, that capture feature is for capture devices (TV Tuners, WebCams, etc.)
And BS.Player let you not only to watch to those streams, but also to record them.
You can't do the same with AVI files (unless you find a driver emulator that lets you do this  in this case please post it here  )

If you want to record (<->extract) clips from AVI files just use VirtualDub (maybe VirtualDubMod) instead ;)
