Bud1, I couldn't understand what you're trying to tell. Your English sucks.

There is no future for BSPlayer. BS should start decoding files by itself. But for this it has to include free software components and become free itself.

Tizio 9th April 2008 02:20 PM

or implement proprietary codecs, and became as nero: bloated, instable, huge, a memory hog, and more expensive

How many peoples are behind Gabest, for example ? There is MPC, MPEG2 decoder, MKV splitter, MP4 splitter, OGG splitter and many other filters/codecs developped (and free). It shouldn't be so hard to do it. At this moment BSplayer it's stucked because it's a commercial program. You can't add free codecs/filters/splitters just because of that. Not because there aren't any free ones.

bud1 10th April 2008 12:44 PM

who care if the codecs
are free or not ? if i can see all in CyberLink and more .... and like a dream

if i want to see a movie i want to see with all is element
and the best way .

i want to see and hear :
CyberLink TrueTheater™ Stretch technology
Optimized Output for widescreen displays
Hardware acceleration ( "bs" take a lote of cpu )
HDMI connectors
Dolby TrueHD (7.1-channel
Dolby Digital EX (7.1-channel
Dolby Digital Plus (7.1-channel)
Dolby Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP
DTS-HD (7.1-channel
DTS 96/24 decoding
DTS-ES (Discrete and Matrix
CyberLink TrueTheater™ Surround
Dolby Pro Logic IIx surround sound
Dolby Virtual Speaker
Dolby Headphone
play MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), MPEG-2 HD, WMV-HD, and SMPTE VC-1 files.
AVCHD
DivX Pro

and more .......

if i pay money for " player" i want to enjoy .
i tired to look for codec .
i tired to pay for "bsplayer " and to look for codec
i tired pay for " bsplayer " and to see in free player " vlc "

if i pay 3000$ for my computer i want to enjoy it .
i want more for my money .
i don't like to work for my " bsplay " i want " bsplay" to work for my money .

now you understand my English

J7N 10th April 2008 03:53 PM

Oh my, how long did it take to compile that list of terms!?

But that's correct: BSPlayer can't appeal to the general consumer as the program does not work out of the box. And experienced users, apart from a handful of fanboys, don't need it.

adicoto 10th April 2008 05:55 PM

Yes, nice list (copy - paste in fact) but for that list you pay 100 $. There is a big diffrence.
And I am sure half of what's written in there you don't know what it means or you never get in touch with something like that. But anyway, BSplayer lacks some features that we all hope to see in the next releases.

PS: the previous reply wasn't addresed to you, but to Tizio.

artam 11th April 2008 06:38 AM

I'm very sorry to say it, but J7N and bud1 are somewhat right.

If BSPlayer for its 30 eur (~ $45) had 1/2 of features and comfort of the software for $100 ... but unfortunately it hasn't and that's the main problem. For it's set of features the BSPlayer is simply expensive comparing with competition, that's the fact. :?

I don't know how many people is behind Gabest.. I always thought he did them (and not only, he works to PS2 emulator video plugins and other projects, and all of them are for free) by himself.. but I don't think it's so simple to code those things, yes, they are all well documented, so it's not so hard, and the real problem is that BSplayer due to its commercial nature, can't use them.. It would take a lot of time to code those codecs and I don't think BSP Team has it in mind for the near future..
I know all of this, I only wanted to point out that it could became a huge bloated project by implementing these codecs, especially if developed in a short amount of time..
Yes, 30€ is an high price for the full pro set, but the 10€ lite pro version is a good compromise in my opinion (obviously not only for the gui ;) ), but tuner support needs a better support by the team in my opinion..

Oh and, in the past I used softwares like PDVD, WDVD et simila, but nowadays they are not well optimized and full of unnecessary features, but the price for them is good if you use all of that features ;) (not my case)
