Is there anything I can do about that. I am not using WMP11 at all. Should I alter all the WMP11 associations to bsplayer pro? Surely, I am not the only one using Vista.. how come others don't have similar problems?

Because generally, they disable UAC just after install.

Please explain. Is there something I should have done before?

In control panel -> user accounts, you must disable User Account Control, that doesn't allow you to install / use some programs.

My good friend, as I mentioned before I have already disabled UAC. I never liked the way UAC operates and disabled it a long time ago..
Anyway, for the sake of conversation I have associated, through Control Panel>Default Programs, every relevant file to BSplayer pro. No change....

I am using OJOsoft total video converter to convert my .MOV files. I have tried the "HD Video 1080p: MPEG2, 5000 kbps, 29:97 fps, Audio: 256 kbps" profile and converted the file successfully. However, I cannot play it at my home computer. What codec do I have to install to make it play?

CPU: E6700 Intel
Graphics card: ATI 4870
RAM: 4 GB
O/S: Vista Ultimate SP1

SOrry, i've missed the post where you told that UAC was disabled.
I am currently runing Seven and can't reproduce this bug, but I can add something to it. I can make any file asociation, but MMS protocol remain unchecked. Same behaviour you have with file extensions.

You will probably get the same answer in here too. Can you provide a sample file to test ? Do a small video file 2-3 sec and upload it using rapidshare, sendspace, any transfer site you like, but do it.

Meaning? Should I uncheck them as well?

PS. I can't say if this is a bug or not. However, I encourage some other Vista users to give us their point of views. Like I said, why is this happening on Vista and not on XP?

adicoto 22nd February 2009 04:20 PM

Nope.

I did mention somewhere before that my rapishare use knowledge is very small. Can you provide some guidelines on how to upload the file? I have a premium account with rapidshare, anyway. So far I was only downloading files from them.

Because of the security policies Microsoft put into Vista. I see that post-Vista operating systems are a little more permisive into that matter, but still. I hope the "soon to be released" SP2 for Vista to really make things better. Seven it's based on Vista and, IMHO, it beats up XP, so they probably (I hope) learned from that and create a realy good SP

Go to rapidshare webpage. On the main page you will see a browse button. Go to the file you want to upload and upload it. A link will be provided to you. Post it here.

It looks like that converting a .mov video to HD Video 1080p works OK in my computer now. I am happy with that, given the fact that the new file is considerably smaller than the original one and the video quality is high...
Thanks for the advise so far!

And we lost the oportunity to fix a :bug:
