I think somehow you had a pan-scan setting...

I think somehow you had a pan-scan setting selected.
Next time you can reset by pressing number [5] on numeric keyboard.

What happens if you depress character/letter [O]...

What happens if you depress character/letter [O] twice?
What is your OS and what video rendering mode do you use?
It's under (rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video > [Video rendering]

Perhaps "Don't resize video in full screen" is...

Perhaps "Don't resize video in full screen" is selected?
under (rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video [General]
