I would rather direct him to FFDshow codecs package, but...

Any solution is good enought. However the nice Kill Bill version to 2CD are made in Xvid :)

...and sice his picture size are equal to my version, and the quality looks the same, so I assume he have the same, Xvid, version. Maybe he need to update the Xvid codec?
