And most importantly, having a 16:9 TV and 4:3 computer display, what aspect ratio should I select? And is it the same for all movies or I have to switch according to the movie? What about my monitor display resolution and the resolution set for tvout? Do they make any difference?
Set your TV to 16:9 mode or wide or whatever it is called in your TV, then apply anamorphic aspect ratio from bsplayer and tadaa, you have perfect picture without any zooming from TV :D
