I think this bug ewxists from the beginning. I started considering it normal :) .
But, you still didn't tell us what decoder is used when playing SVCDs and avi files. I do have BSPlayer installed on something like 20-25 different hardware configurations and never had this problem. It may be related to your software.
PS, by any chance, is nero audio decoder in use ?
