I guess that you also have vobsub installed.
Bsplayer will show your subtitles and you can control them with S.
Vobsub however is an external program which can be set to automaticly load subtitles as well.
You can recognise Vobsub by the green arrow in the system tray.
Right click on the arrow to disable the subs shown by Vobsub.
